Breeding Farm Operators
AllHealthy Farm Apprenticeship is a new approach in agriculture training where the apprentices split their days between some classroom instruction and mostly on-the-job training at a real farm. This is a competence-based training approach that is very different from the way agriculture is currently taught in Africa.
Apprentices graduating from AllHealthy Farm are skilled, thoughtful, self-reliant farm managers/operators whom the urban-based medium-size farm owners, often called telephone farmers, can hire to run their farm businesses.
The apprenticeship initiative is designed to reach youth and women aspiring to become farm operators/managers, self-employed small-scale farmers, and graduates with no hands-on technical skills.
AllHealthy Farm adopts a multi-pronged approach to training, to give our graduates a head start and the optimal chance of success.
AllHealthy Farm Apprenticeship focus on best practices, imparting the knowledge, practical skills and business skills apprentices will need to operate and manage a successful and sustainable farming business.
As an AllHealthy Farm Apprentice, the apprentice will gain experience in working on and managing a production unit. The apprentice will also gain business skills, as the courses incorporate Farm Business Management and the other skills required to grow a successful farming business.
AllHealthy Farm Apprentices gain knowledge of all the principles of agricultural production. By the time the apprentice graduates, he or she will understand which crops to choose; how to maintain healthy produce; how to feed, care for and breed livestock, and all the other aspects of farming that are indispensable for a thriving enterprise.
